My Role: Illustrator — 4 editorial illustrations for blog article headers.
Brief: Create striking header illustrations for resume.io's career blog — each one visually interpreting its article's theme, from mental strength to job interview tactics.
Problem: Career advice content is a saturated space online. Articles on topics like mental resilience or handling weaknesses in interviews risk feeling generic without strong visuals to set them apart. Each illustration needed to make an abstract, often uncomfortable topic feel engaging and approachable at first glance.
Insight: The best editorial illustration doesn't explain the article — it reframes it. A neon snake coiled around
a mirror says more about self-reflection and flaws than any headline could.
Design Intent:
- Each illustration built around its article's core metaphor
- Rich, textured style with bold colour — dark and luminous where the topic demands it, playful and warm where it doesn't
- Strong enough to carry the page as a full-width header image
- Distinctive and memorable in a content-heavy niche
Outcome: Four published editorial illustrations live on resume.io's blog, paired with long-form career articles reaching a global professional audience.
