My Role: Illustrator — five original illustrations for beer packaging, adapted for print production.
Brief: Create a series of exclusive illustrations for Brewlok's exotic and unusual beer range — each design capturing the unique character and flavour of its beer. Part of the brand's ongoing model of collaborating with different illustrators for limited-edition releases.
Problem: Craft beer packaging is a crowded space. With exotic and unusual varieties, generic labels simply don't do the product justice — the design needs to intrigue before the first sip. Each beer in the range had its own distinct personality, requiring a visual language that could shift between flavours while staying cohesive as a series.
Insight: The best packaging doesn't just label a product — it tells its story. Match the illustration to the beer's character and the design becomes part of the tasting experience.
Design Intent:
- Seven distinct illustrations, each reflecting its beer's flavour and personality
- Playful, colourful visual style with energy and curiosity
- Cohesive enough as a series, individual enough per label
- Artwork prepared for packaging print production
Outcome: A series of five limited-edition labels released on Brewlok bottles and cans — part of the brand's continuing programme of illustrator collaborations.
